Rig Electrician – Offshore Drilling Operations (Nigeria)

Overview
Benedetto Global is recruiting on behalf of a leading international Offshore Drilling Contractor for experienced Rig Electricians to support expanding drilling operations in Nigeria.

This is an excellent opportunity for skilled offshore electrical professionals to join a high-performance drilling environment, supporting critical electrical systems, operational reliability, and offshore safety across major IOC projects.

Role Description
Reporting to the Chief Electrician, the Rig Electrician will support the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all onboard electrical systems to ensure safe and uninterrupted drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

  • Assist the Chief Electrician with installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems onboard
  • Perform daily inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on electrical equipment
  • Maintain and repair power generation and distribution systems including generators, engine controls, SCRs, switchgears, and transformers
  • Support maintenance of HVAC systems, refrigeration plants, lighting, communication systems, and general rig electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components of drilling machinery and associated systems
  • Ensure all maintenance is completed in line with Rig Maintenance System (RMS) procedures
  • Comply fully with Permit to Work (PTW) and isolation systems
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules with supervisors and other department heads

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Integrate safety risk assessments into all assigned tasks
  • Participate in daily Safety Conversations and monitoring processes
  • Apply Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever hazards or unexpected risks arise
  • Attend weekly safety meetings, pre-tour meetings, and all required HSE briefings
  • Report incidents, hazards, and abnormal conditions promptly
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and offshore regulations

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Recognised Electrical Qualification / Apprenticeship (Essential)
  • CompEx Hazardous Area Certification
  • BOSIET / FOET
  • CA-EBS
  • MIST Certification
  • Valid OEUK Medical Certificate
  • High school diploma or equivalent (relevant experience may substitute formal education)
  • Strong technical knowledge of offshore electrical systems and calculations
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Previous offshore drilling experience preferred
