Benedetto Global is recruiting on behalf of a leading offshore drilling contractor for an experienced Barge Master to support their offshore drilling operations in Nigeria.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced marine professional with extensive jack-up drilling experience to join a reputable offshore operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of all marine operations while maintaining full compliance with statutory and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
As the Barge Master, you will be responsible for:
- Managing all marine aspects of the offshore installation in accordance with statutory regulations and company procedures.
- Supervising the Marine Department to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the rig.
- Monitoring weather conditions, sea state and rig motions, advising the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) of any conditions that may affect drilling operations or the seaworthiness of the rig.
- Ensuring all navigation, marine and positioning equipment is maintained, tested and fully operational.
- Supporting safe marine operations during rig moves and offshore activities.
- Promoting the highest standards of safety, operational excellence and environmental compliance.
- Working closely with the OIM and offshore leadership team to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should have:
- A minimum of 8 years’ offshore experience with a multinational drilling contractor.
- Previous experience working on a Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 or a similar premium Jack-up drilling rig.
- Experience serving on Jack-up Barges with a minimum rank of Chief Officer.
- Previous Barge Master experience.
- Experience working on a MOPU (Mobile Offshore Production Unit) is advantageous.
- Strong working knowledge of JD Edwards or a similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- OIM Bottom Bearing Licence (Vanuatu).
- Rig Mover Certificate (preferred).
- Valid OGUK Offshore Medical Certificate.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English.
- High school education or equivalent.
