Claims Specialist

Our client, an oilfield services global provider are recruiting for an experienced Claims Specialist who will be based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

You will be responsible for reviewing, analysing, and processing claims that may occur during the execution of
a contract. Your contributions will play a vital role in optimizing their revenue cycle and ensuring the financial health of our client’s organization.

Roles/Responsibility

  • Ensure timely completion of projects in accordance with contractual, legislative, regulatory, company, commercial requirements.
  • Project performance with regards to quality, safety, health, environment and safety (QHSES).
  • Safeguarding client’s and company’s interests.
  • Setting-up and leading project team.
  • Coaching and supervising project team members.
  • Liaising with Procurement Coordinators.
  • Planning of project resources.
  • Ensuring that project activities are performed in accordance with Company Management System (CMS).
  • Project reporting during preparation phase (engineering budget, progress and technical).
  • Monitoring the technical, operational, QHSES, financial performance and intervene when required.
  • Management of installation and construction subcontractors.
  • Identification and reporting of project related areas of concern to Project Manager.
  • Project close-out and evaluation, including proposing follow-up actions.
  • Stimulating and realising optimisation and improvements in his area of responsibility.
  • Coordinating with cross-discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
  • Meeting with project team members to identify and resolve issues.
  • Submitting project deliverables and ensuring that they adhere to quality standards.
  • Preparing status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information.
  • Establishing effective project communication plans and ensuring their execution.
  • Facilitating change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.
  • Coordinating the development of user manuals, training materials, and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and turnover of the process or system to the clients.
  • Identifying and developing new opportunities with clients.
  • Obtaining customer acceptance of project deliverables.
  • Managing stakeholder satisfaction within the project transition period.
  • Conducting post-project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.

Qualification/Experience

  • Seasoned professional with wide experience (15 years+) in a
    similar role.
  • Detailed knowledge of project development with a further relevant
    qualification e.g. MSc Construction Law, Law or Arbitration or
    similar with extensive knowledge and experience (10 years+) of the
    role of a Sr. Claims Consultant on oil and gas projects.
  • Proven ability of successful development and negotiation of
    complex EPC contractual claim submissions. Dispute resolution
    and arbitration experience is considered a plus.
  • Sound understanding of technical issues gained through
    successfully fulfilling variety of associated roles across the
    businesses in varied project working environments. Relies on
    extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Able to fully take into account business and operations
    requirements and objective while discharging its duties of contract
    management and claims support.
  • Experience dealing with local (Nigeria)/international clients on
    EPC projects.
  • Experience with planning, identification, implementation, and
    monitoring project claims.
  • Service oriented attitude.
