Benedetto Global has been exclusively mandated to support a leading international offshore drilling contractor with the appointment of experienced Drillers and Assistant Drillers for ongoing jack-up rig operations offshore Nigeria.
These are critical offshore roles supporting the safe and efficient execution of drilling activities. The successful candidates will have strong technical expertise, hands-on operational experience, and a proven background working on jack-up rigs.
Role Description
Driller:
The Driller is responsible for operating and monitoring drilling equipment, ensuring safe and efficient drilling operations in line with approved programmes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operate drilling controls and equipment during drilling operations
- Monitor well conditions, pressures, and drilling parameters
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies and safe working practices
- Supervise drilling crew on shift and coordinate daily activities
- Respond effectively to well control situations and emergencies
- Maintain accurate drilling logs and reports
- Liaise with Toolpusher and onshore teams to ensure smooth operations
Assistant Driller:
The Assistant Driller supports the Driller in executing drilling operations and maintaining equipment performance and safety standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in operating drilling equipment and monitoring well conditions
- Support supervision of drilling crew and daily rig floor activities
- Ensure all operations comply with safety and environmental standards
- Perform equipment checks and assist with maintenance activities
- Maintain accurate reporting and assist with documentation
- Step in for the Driller when required
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Driller or Assistant Driller on jack-up rigs
- Strong understanding of offshore drilling operations and equipment
- Valid offshore certifications (e.g. BOSIET, IWCF / IADC Well Control)
- Experience working in offshore environments, ideally in West Africa
- Strong commitment to HSE standards and safe operations
- Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure
