Benedetto Global has been exclusively mandated to support a leading international offshore drilling contractor with the appointment of experienced Drilling Planners (Toolpushers) for ongoing jack-up rig operations offshore Nigeria.
This is a critical offshore leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of drilling operations. The successful candidate will bring strong operational expertise, leadership capability, and a proven track record working on jack-up rigs.
Role Description
As a Drilling Planner (Toolpusher), you will oversee and coordinate all drilling and well operations on board the rig, ensuring performance, safety, and operational excellence at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, supervise, and execute drilling operations in line with approved well programmes
- Lead and manage drilling crews, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety standards
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and HSE procedures
- Monitor drilling parameters, optimise performance, and minimise non-productive time (NPT)
- Coordinate with onshore teams, drilling engineers, and third-party service providers
- Ensure proper maintenance and operational readiness of drilling equipment
- Lead daily operational meetings, reporting, and performance reviews
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Maintain accurate reporting of all drilling activities and incidents
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Toolpusher / Drilling Supervisor on jack-up rigs
- Strong background in offshore drilling operations, preferably in West Africa
- Valid offshore certifications (e.g. BOSIET, IWCF / IADC Well Control – Supervisory Level)
- Demonstrated leadership and crew management experience
- Strong understanding of HSE standards and regulatory compliance
- Experience working in challenging offshore environments
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
